3. Puppy
Bedroom
Now that you’ve brought the crate near to your bed, here’s
an additional step you can employ and in my experience, one of
the most wonderful ways on how to stop puppy from crying in
crate.
All you got to do is simply lay down beside your puppy’s
crate. Pretend that you’re going to sleep right there next to
him.
Now, in my experience, the puppy would normally kick up a
little fuss but when he sees you lying next to his crate
relaxing, the puppy would often chill out and then, plop to
sleep!
I’ve seen this happened to my Bisco, MANY times. This one
works like a charm on him so who knows, it may work on your
puppy as well.
4. The Comfort Device
Method
A puppy that was taken away from the mother at a very young
age may wind up with poor social skills.
Now crate training this sort of puppy would often result in
undesirable consequences – endless crying, whining etc.
So to overcome this particular puppy crying in crate issue,
you might want to give Comfort Zone diffuser a try.
The diffuser contains material that mimics pheromones often
emitted by mama pups. Plug one near your puppy’s crate and it
MIGHT just calm him down.
I put a strong emphasis on “might” here because this
diffuser didn’t work on all of my pups.
My golden retriever, Pekoe used to suffer from the puppy
crying in crate syndrome so I bought the diffuser for him and
it worked out alright.
However, it didn’t do diddly-squat on my remaining pups.
Many pup owners swear by it though, so I think it’s worth a
try.
In the long run, the best way to put a stop to this puppy
crying in crate problem and other behavior problem for that
matter, is to focus on a specific training method (I use
clicker method these days) and apply it consistently.
This way you no longer have to bust your brain trying to
figure out how to stop puppy crying in crate and other behavior
issues.
